Degradation of Methylene Blue in the Photo-Fenton-Like Process with WO3-Loaded Porous Carbon Nitride Nanosheet Catalyst

The catalytic capability of original carbon nitride (CN) is limited by a small specific surface area and high electron–hole recombination rate. In this study, WO3-loaded porous nanosheets (MCA-CN/WO3) were synthesized thermal treatment with melamine, cyanuric acid WCl6. MCA-CN/WO3 could degrade 98% the methylene blue (MB) within 30 min in photo-Fenton-like process, displaying better activity than CN (30%), pure MCA-CN (63%) CN/WO3 (87%). results photoluminescence electrochemical impedance spectroscopy demonstrated that Z-scheme heterojunction inhibited electrons holes. addition, nanosheet structure accelerated electron transfer provided abundant active sites for MB degradation. A radical quenching experiment indicated facilitated decomposition H2O2 to produce 1O2 possible degradation pathways proposed.
